Southern Voters to Talk Radio: Huck You

Southern Voters to Talk Radio: Huck You

By: Chad Stenzel

As it turns out, a vote for Huckabee…is a vote for Huckabee. Voters from West Virginia to Alabama decided they would decide on the conservative alternative to John McCain. Despite the complete lack of coverage from the Main Stream Media and countless hours of biased belittling from talk radio Mittdroids, Mike Huckabee took five states south of the Mason-Dixon Line.

As Huckabee won the West Virginia caucus (which apparently Mitt Romney thought he had a receipt for) Sean Hannity was pleading with Newt Gingrich to call “dirty pool” because McCain backers threw their vote to Huck. Newt was having none of it, explaining to Sean that this is what actually happens at conventions when one candidate’s delegates see they have no chance. Hannity wouldn’t hear of it, asking the question four different ways, never satisfied with the former Speaker of the House’s answers. He then switched tactics asking leading questions like, “Shouldn’t Governor Huckabee get out of the race so Mitt Romney can win all the conservative votes and stop McCain?” Again Newt had to give a lesson in American politics to his friend, explaining that people can stay in a race as long as they choose.

Well, Hannity was right. There was a conservative spoiler on Super-Duper Tuesday. If not for Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee would have added Oklahoma and Missouri to his tally. As I’ve written before, Mitt is a dream candidate in Rust Belt states and Mormon country. Way to clean up in Utah, Willard. Returns were still coming in from the planet Kolob as this story went to print.

Look for Rush, Sean, Mark, Glenn and Laura to get even more hysterical over the next several days. It will not matter. The people have spoken and the look on Ann Romney’s face said it all. As her husband was thrilling his crowd of supporters with a promise to carry on, I ‘m sure I saw her slide the checkbook out of his back pocket, thus ending the hopes and dreams of flip-flopping, fee-raising, Log Cabin Republican-loving conservatives everywhere. But, at least those people still have their heroes in talk radio. The rest of us will be happy to settle for Huck.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Save some money for the Tabernacle Mitt.

I don't think Texas appreciates you calling them uneducated and inbred.
I was leaning Romney after Hunter dropped out, then I looked at his record. Mitt is the real phony!

Sorry, but Huckabee only appeals to a sliver in the south. All unbiased experts are saying this; In the last debate: Gov Huckabee What would you see if you looked into Putin's eyes " I would never say I could look into someone's eyes..." What would Reagon say about you "I would never try to put words in President Reagon's mouth..." Does this stuff work in the south, it doesn't work in the rest of the country? He is a fake, a man of hope like Jim Jones. As Gov he increased taxes, had many social programs and wants to pay for illegal's education. Fred Thompson killed him on the closing of Guantanomo in the South Carolina debate. He has no fiscal or foreign affairs ability, he is a liberal democrat who is also a minister. If McCain picks him as VP I will vote deomcrat.

I agree and disagree with you. I disagree with you in that I don't believe in disparaging Romney's religion. I'm sure he is a good, devote, and religious man. I agree with you in that Romney can't complain about McCain voters backing Huck when he's been trying to get Huck voters to back him. As they say, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Or, as Mike Huckabee said, "Stop whinning Mitt." In fact, in addition to that mistake, I think Mitt made two otehr mistakes that cost him - (1) He himself started to tell Huckabee supporters that "a vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain." You're not going to make a lot of converts by disreprecting someone's candidate like that - since most Huckabee supporters probably felt that a vote for Huck is a vote for Huck. (2) What they heck was that remark about Bob Dole? Yea, McCain over played it, but Mitt, what the heck were your thinking? Add that to the "whinning," no wonder he didn't do so well.

Just listened to Rush. He's backtracking on Huckabee today. "We like Huckabee here," he says. Smart move. Rush is toning it down a bit. Some of the folks, like Hannity and Ingraham, already jumped the shark and their rating are gonna head south--they offended too many people.

Huckabee is no "liberal democrat."

He is a solid traditional conservative that was more competitive than "Slick Willard" Mitt Romney in the REDDEST OF THE RED STATES.

To paraphrase an old favorite song . . . "I hope Rush-n-Mitt will remember . . . A SOUTHERN MAN DON'T NEED THEM AROUND ANYHOW! SWEET HOME ALABAMA"

And Georgia,

And Tennessee,

And Arkansas,

And West Virginia.

Mike Huckabee pulled off what some politicos (and Romney-ians) thought was improbable. He beat John McCain and relegated the gold-plated Mitt Romney Flip-Flop Express to third place in the key states that Republicans MUST WIN to have any shot whatsoever at beating the Democrats in November.

Romney can't claim to be the "great conservative hope" if he can't win even ONE state in the solid South.

BTW, "To date, Romney's success has mostly come at the margins, in small-state caucuses like Maine, Nevada and North Dakota, where other campaigns have not competed. The three larger primaries he has won — Michigan, Massachusetts and Utah — were in his native home, his current home and his spiritual home."

Rush Limbaugh, for all the sound and fury, failed to deliver any of his "home states" for Romney. Romney has lost in Florida (Rush's present home), Missouri (Rush's birth place), New York (Home to Rush, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin's flagship station -- WABC), and California (Rush's adopted home state)... That makes Rush 0-4 in the primary season. Not so good.

"Returns were still coming in from the planet Kolob."
Bigotry is always an acceptable means of presenting your opinion. Get a life.

If you put your Kool-aid down for one minute you would realize since Huck will win Texas, I inferred you were calling them inbred.
Now before you pick your Kool-aid up again please check Mitt's record on all the issues you use to bash Huck. I'm not talking about what Mitt has posted on his website.

Before you give away everything to the local minister, who is also a liberal democrat you need to check out his fiscal priorities. Go to http://www.clubforgrowth.org/ analysis of all candidates. By they way they have been around for 5-8 years not a manifestation of this election. I am starting to believe this sight has nothing to do about electing a good fiscal, national security, social conservative but to see if the south can push a liberal minister on the rest of the country.

If you are going to leave comments please spell them correctly. Its site not sight.

Finally! I found a blog that doesn't make me wanna throw up.

I can't even listen to talk radio anymore lately. Supporting Romney doesn't make you smarter. They got on the wrong horse and are riding him to the glue factory.

Go Huck!

Well said!

And to the anonymous commenter's post about Huckabee only appealing to a sliver in the south, I beg to differ. I am a Yankee through and through and Mike Huckabee speaks for the America I believe in. And if you want to try to group me into the uneducated, low-income category that Fox News has tried to create for all Huckabee supporters, you're wrong again.

Yours Truly,
One educated, financially sound, Huckabee supporting Yankee.

To:One Educated financialy sound etc: Good you can pay for Huck's increase in social programs, his increasing taxes, his education for illegal aliens. Hopefully, you are a trial lawyer and you can defend all the Guantanomo Bay enemy combatants pro bono. Talk to Fred Thompson about this one.
Huck's fiscal prowess go to http://www.clubforgrowth.org/. He is a democrat at least Obama has style. Huckabee(D)
